Sankara Nethralaya Ophthalmic Mission Trust, Inc., a registered non-profit organization in the United States of America, it was established in 1988 with the sole purpose of supporting Sankara Nethralaya, a charitable, not-for-profit ophthalmic hospital, in Chennai, India.
SN OM Trust consists of a group of like minded individuals who support the community eye care activities of Sankara Nethralaya. SN OM Trust raises funds for Sankara Nethralaya by conducting various events and with the support from society at large. Over the years, SN OM Trust has successfully helped raise substantial funds which have provided vision to thousands of under privileged people in India. Through its fundraising and awareness efforts, SN OM Trust has contributed significantly in making world class ophthalmic eye care available to a large number of indigent people in India.
Sankara Nethralaya OM Trust has acquired 501 (C) (3) certification from the US Federal Government for 12 consecutive years.

Sankara Nethralaya is a leading super specialty institutions for ophthalmic care in India. Founded in 1978 as a unit of the Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, which is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, is a charitable, not-for-profit institution.
The state-of-the-art institute has over 80 eye care professionals examining around 1,500 patients and performing around 125 surgeries every day in 11 specialities including cataract, cornea, glaucoma and vitreoretinal. About 50 % of the out-patient department and 35 % of the surgeries are done free of cost to the underprivileged at the main hospital in Chennai.
