Donating :
Sankara Nethralaya is a charitable organization that seeks the goodwill of society in pursuing its
community services to the rural poor of India. You can contribute towards this noble cause by
donating to the institute or by supporting any one of the donation schemes.
Spreading the message : Time is precious. Spare a few precious moments by talking about Sankara
Nethralaya and its activities at your workplace, neighborhood gatherings, clubs, among friends,
social events etc.
Volunteering :
Students seeking admission in professional colleges can volunteer in community ophthalmology or
can do a scientific project in clinical or basic sciences. Students, particularly of Indian
origin, studying in the US can campaign for Sankara Nethralaya and help raise funds especially
before occasions like Diwali, Independence Day, Republic Day etc. To know more on how you can

Conducting events for fundraising :
Sankara Nethralaya OM Trust, USA currently has active volunteers in the San Francisco Bay Area,
Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New Jersey, New York, Detroit, San Diego, Phoenix,
Atlanta. We have donors all over the country and are interested in expanding to engage volunteers
from other locations in the U.S.
How to donate in the United States of America
Funds from Sankara Nethralaya USA are utilized in :
- Performing free surgeries like cataract surgery, glaucoma, corneal and retinal surgeries.
- Conducting camps in remote areas and screening for ophthalmic diseases using teleophthalmology.
- In 2023, Sankara Nethralaya performed 18,800 free surgeries. Out of this, 5,625 minor surgeries like
Cataract surgery and 1,647 major surgeries like Retinal Detachment were supported by Sankara Nethralaya USA.
